Stand was created to challenge corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect, because our lives depend on it. Born as Forest Ethics, we were founded nearly twenty years ago by a group of dedicated people who were working day in and day out to solve a big problem: What do you do when the health and foundation of communities and their environment are being undermined? Over the years, our work and our approach has evolved from a dedicated focus on forest protection to taking on some of the root causes of climate change and environmental injustice.As we’ve done since the start, we pursue audacious solutions, campaign for as long as it takes to see them through, punch way above our weight, and treat everyone, including our adversaries, with respect. From keeping communities safe from dozens of proposed oil by rail terminals to protecting more than 65 million acres of forest from logging, our work has resulted in sweeping industry-wide changes and environmental protection on a massive scale.Source
