3.18.24 – As Side Note:
Let me share with you my awareness of at least five individuals who advocate for Climate Justice. They have encountered challenges dealing with individuals who deny science, endorse doomsday scenarios, serve as hired hands for fossil fuel interests, or align with religious conservative factions. Some of them live in constant fear, with one woman nearly experiencing a nervous breakdown and another abandoning Climate Advocacy altogether. She advised me to cease posting facts (in art format) about the worsening Climate Emergency back in 2013 as it would invite attacks.
The relentless attacks and anxiety led her to withdraw from advocacy. Similarly, during a visit to Manhattan in 2018, another acquaintance remained isolated in his apartment, fearing attacks and intimidation. Each encounter left him visibly frightened.
During my time as a Dell Field Service Tech in Manhattan, moving from one company to another to repair computers, I was frequently followed and subjected to intimidation tactics. Initially fearful, I eventually turned their attacks into fuel for retribution.
I propose that you, too, adopt a resilient attitude, transforming their attacks into opportunities for personal growth. Strengthen yourself to a point where their actions hold no power over you. Embrace their assaults as catalysts for self-improvement. This, I believe, is the most effective form of retaliation against any adversity.
It’s not merely about supporting Donald Trump; some individuals seek to impose an ideology that stifles progress, promotes division, and judges others based on arbitrary beliefs and morality. Greed and the lust for power can drive people to become psychological tormentors or worse, resorting to violence.
We must not retreat into silence or allow ourselves to be divided by ‘us’ versus ‘them.’ The Climate Emergency demands collective action, collaboration, and cooperation from all of us. Unlike a vaccine, it cannot be ignored or rejected.
The division they sow contradicts the unity necessary to confront the Climate Emergency. We should not identify ourselves as opposing factions but as allies working towards a common goal. I remain hopeful that as I evolve, they will too.
Do not succumb to fear; instead, grow stronger in the face of adversity. Transform yourself through education and self-reflection, demonstrating the inherent goodness and hope in the world. Eventually, this will resonate with them.
Remain composed, confident, and courageous regardless of the challenges you face. Use their attacks as building blocks for bridges of collaboration, friendship, and trust. Over time, you’ll appreciate how they’ve contributed to your growth and resilience.
