A Word About Judiciary Judges

YOUTUBE video for this post!

I spent just shy of 14 years working in the Judiciary, and in that time, I witnessed firsthand the incredible integrity, dedication, and moral fortitude of judges. Outside of truly compassionate and ethical religious leaders—regardless of faith—judges stand as some of the most principled individuals I have ever encountered. They do not simply uphold the law; they embody it. They do not just interpret the Constitution; they safeguard it with unwavering resolve.

My work in the Judiciary was not as a judge, lawyer, or court officer—I was an IT Technician. That role gave me a unique perspective, as I interacted with judges beyond the bench, behind closed doors, and even in their homes while fixing their computers. Through these moments of unscripted interaction, I came to see them not just as legal professionals but as people. People who bore the immense weight of justice on their shoulders, who worked long hours not for fame or fortune, but because they believed in their oath. They swore to uphold the Constitution, and for them, that oath was sacred.

The Integrity of Judges

There is a reason why judges wear black robes—it represents impartiality, fairness, and the solemn duty they carry. The judges I knew took that responsibility seriously. They were not swayed by political winds or public pressure; they were guided solely by the law and their unwavering commitment to justice. It didn’t matter who stood before them—a wealthy executive, a politician, or a struggling single parent—they applied the law equally, with measured thoughtfulness and an acute sense of justice.

I recall one judge in particular who was presiding over a highly contentious case involving a powerful local figure. The pressure was immense, the scrutiny from the public and the media unrelenting. Threats were made, smear campaigns launched. Yet, this judge never wavered. He knew his duty was to uphold the law, not to cower in the face of intimidation. In the end, his ruling was fair, legally sound, and unshaken by the noise surrounding it. He once told me, “Justice isn’t about making people happy. It’s about making sure the right thing is done, no matter the cost.”

Judges as Human Beings

Despite their stature, judges are human. They have families, they experience joy, sadness, and stress, just like the rest of us. I have shared meals with them, attended their family gatherings, and seen their struggles. The job is grueling—hours spent reviewing cases, writing opinions, and ensuring that every ruling they make is legally sound and just. They rarely seek recognition, and yet, when they are unfairly attacked, it cuts deeply.

Social media has given rise to a dangerous trend—judges being harassed, doxxed, and threatened simply for doing their jobs. These men and women do not seek the spotlight; they only seek to uphold the law. And when they are vilified, it is not just an attack on them, but an attack on justice itself.

The Public’s Duty to Defend Judges

When judges are attacked, I take it personally. And I know I’m not alone. Those of us who have worked alongside them, who have witnessed their dedication and moral courage, understand the magnitude of what they do. They are our first line of defense in a democracy—alongside our right to vote. They stand between tyranny and the rule of law. Without them, justice would crumble.

We, the People, must stand up for them. We must be their shield against misinformation, against politically motivated attacks, against baseless accusations that seek to undermine their role. We must push back against the dangerous rhetoric that attempts to paint impartial judges as enemies simply because they ruled based on the law rather than personal interest.

A Call to Action

If you value democracy, if you believe in fairness and the rule of law, then you must stand with our judges. When they are attacked, defend them. When misinformation spreads, correct it. When their safety is threatened, demand accountability.

I spent nearly 14 years working among these guardians of justice, and I can tell you this—our legal system, though not perfect, remains strong because of their dedication. They deserve our respect, our support, and our unwavering commitment to ensuring that they can do their jobs without fear.

Because at the end of the day, they are not just judges. They are people who believe in something greater than themselves. And that is worth defending.
